.::Review & Giveaway::. Alpha Catch

Alpha Catch is the fast-paced, physical way to practice letter names and sounds. Kids take turns tossing self-stick balls, catching them with the sticky catcher's mitts, and playing fun phonics games about the letters on each ball. It's a phonemic awareness home run!

Games include:
  • Letter Line Up - "What letter is that?"
  • Ace the Sound - "What sound does that letter make?"
  • Beginning Sounds Catch - "Say a word that begins with that sound!"
  • Ending Sounds Catch - "Say a word that ends with that sound!"
  • Middle Sounds Catch - "Say a word that has that sound in the middle!"
  • Word Catch - "Can you make a word with the letters you caught?"
  • Round Robin Play - "All questions above are asked as a group of kids tosses and catches the balls

Educational Insights provided me (and my daughter) with an Alpha Catch set to review and one to giveaway.  You can purchase your own Alpha Catch at Amazon.  I highly recommend it for children learning colors & letters AND for children learning to read.

My daughter is in kindergarten. She is already able to recognize and write her alphabet. However, she is really enjoying learning to read and these have been a HUGE help with furthering her phonetic skills. We have a lot of fun playing "letter ball," especially when her best friend is visiting. He's still learning to recognize his letters, and this game has really made it fun for him. They are enjoying the competitive part of it. Whoever gets 5 in a row right gets to choose the snack or the next activity! It really has made learning fun for the kids!

There are numerous times when I suggest we play catch (meaning regular catch), and my daughter pipes up with "I'll get the letter balls!" She really ENJOYS learning with these!

Please allow up to 1 minute for the entry form to load. The first 3 tasks are mandatory, the other 2 are bonus entries to increase your chances of winning.

  1. I would be playing with my 4 year old niece (she would be 5 by the time that it's warm enough to play it outside) =) And if we got my cousin involved she could bring her kid over he's 4. Then we could invite one more friend over and her kid and he's 5 or 6, oh and my cousin who is 8 I think. I just keep thinking of more kids that would love this.
